Chisholm Trail Veterinary Clinic welcomes new lead veterinarian
Chisholm Trail Veterinary Clinic is excited to welcome lead veterinarian Dr. Carl Gardner! His Texas charm and exceptional medical and surgical skills are helping him make a smooth transition to our clinic.
With his arrival, our Gonzales veterinary clinic is able to offer you walk-in veterinary care from 8-5 Monday to Friday. Appointments for companion animals at our clinic or barn calls for horses or livestock can be made by calling us at 830-672-8387.
Dr. Gardner has a long history of working with animals. He grew up on a cattle ranch in Grandview, Texas – a small farming community just south of Fort Worth. His experiences there incited a passion for animal health, so after high school, he headed out to Aggie Country, where he earned his BS in Animal Science in 1987.
The next leg of his journey to fulfill his dream of becoming a veterinarian took him a bit further from home – 600 miles further, to be exact. He attended the Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine, where he received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1992.
After graduation, he served as an associate veterinarian in a small-animal, dairy, and beef practice in Sulphur Springs, Texas, for two years before leasing Ponder Large Animal Hospital, where he gained a wealth of equine knowledge. Two years later, he moved to Aurora, Texas, where he spent the next 18 years treating small animals, beef cattle, and horses at Aurora Animal Hospital, Inc., where he was CEO. Dr. Gardner honed his interests in equine health, including equine assisted reproductive technology, artificial insemination, and all other facets of equine reproduction.
Dr. Gardner now joins the Chisholm Trail Veterinary Clinic family at the Gonzales location, where he will practice small- and large-animal medicine, while expanding his interest in equine health.
Dr. Gardner encourages all pet owners, especially horse owners, to meet with him, either by coming into the clinic at any time during business hours – Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. – or by calling 830-672-8387 to make an appointment or schedule a barn call.
